WHAT MAKES A STRONG REFORMER CLASS?

It’s not how many exercises you know.

It’s your ability to cue clearly, adapt in real time and make great exercise choices for the people in front of you.

Teach Stronger Reformer Classes is a practical 4-hour instructor workshop designed to help you develop the skills that make the biggest difference when teaching dynamic group Reformer classes.

Throughout the workshop, Chrisen will share practical frameworks developed through teaching more than 20,000 Pilates classes — helping you cue movement more clearly, layer exercises effectively and confidently incorporate advanced repertoire into group classes.

Rather than giving you scripts or sequences to memorise, you’ll learn systems you can use to make better teaching decisions — no matter who walks into your class.

Expect movement, discussion and plenty of opportunities to put the concepts into practice.

THE CHRISEN PILATES CUEING FRAMEWORK

Great cueing isn’t about saying more.

It’s about giving the right information, at the right time, so your clients understand what you want them to do and your class can keep moving.

Chrisen will introduce his signature cueing framework — a practical system for organising your thoughts and communicating movement with greater clarity.

We’ll explore how to:

  • Simplify your language and reduce over-cueing

  • Make exercise setups and movement instructions clearer

  • Improve the flow and pace of your group classes

  • Know when to cue, when to correct and when to let your clients move

You’ll then put the framework into practice on the Reformer using familiar movements.

THE LAYERING FRAMEWORK

Strong group teaching requires you to be able to adapt on the fly.

Your class might include different experience levels, abilities and needs — and your original plan won’t always be the right plan once you see who is actually in the room.

Chrisen’s Layering Framework gives you a practical system for progressing and adapting exercises while maintaining the flow of your class.

We’ll explore how to:

  • Build exercises progressively using layers

  • Adapt challenge for mixed-level groups

  • Use meaningful progressions and regressions

  • Make better teaching decisions in real time

The goal is to give you more options as a teacher — so you can confidently respond to the class in front of you.

ADVANCED REFORMER REPERTOIRE

Knowing when and how to progress your clients into more challenging repertoire is another part of teaching stronger classes.

Together we’ll explore advanced Reformer exercises including:

  • Teaser

  • Snake & Twist

  • Tree

We’ll look at the progressions, regressions and preparation exercises that can help you introduce these movements more successfully in a group environment.

The goal isn’t to make every exercise advanced. It’s to give you the confidence and knowledge to make better exercise choices when advanced work is appropriate.

YOU’LL LEAVE WITH

  • A practical framework for cueing movement more clearly

  • A layering system you can apply across your Reformer repertoire

  • Greater confidence adapting and progressing exercises in real time

  • Practical strategies for introducing advanced Reformer repertoire

  • Teaching systems you can immediately apply to your own classes

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?

This workshop is designed for Reformer Pilates instructors who want to become clearer, more adaptable and more confident teachers.

It’s suitable for newer instructors looking for more structure and confidence, as well as experienced instructors wanting to refine their cueing, expand their teaching toolkit and explore a different approach to group Reformer classes.

Qualified and trainee Pilates instructors are welcome.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This is a highly practical 4-hour workshop.

You won’t spend the workshop sitting and listening to a lecture.

Expect to move, practise, experiment and discuss.

We’ll take the frameworks directly onto the Reformer so you can experience them, practise using them and understand how they translate into real group classes.

You’ll also receive take-home workshop notes and resources to help you continue applying the concepts after the workshop.
