ADVANCED REFORMER: TEACH THE REPERTOIRE WITH CONFIDENCE

Thursday 22 October 2026
1:30 PM–5:30 PM | 4 Hours

Pilates Club Dublin
Rathbourne Village
1 The Chandler, Ashtown
Dublin, D15 Y577, Ireland

Maybe your Reformer training gave you the foundations — but when it came to the advanced repertoire, you were shown an exercise once or twice and then expected to know what to do with it.

Or maybe you know exercises like Teaser, Snake, Tree and Tendon Stretch, but you rarely teach them because you’re not completely confident in how to set them up, cue them, progress towards them or safely introduce them into a mixed-level group class.

This workshop is designed to change that.

One of my strengths as an educator is demystifying advanced Pilates repertoire.

I want to take exercises that can initially look complicated or intimidating and make them feel logical, achievable and easier to teach.

We’ll break down the advanced repertoire step by step — understanding the exercise itself, what your client needs before attempting it, how to prepare them for it, and how to progressively build towards the full movement.

The goal isn’t simply to learn more advanced exercises.

It’s to leave understanding how to teach them.

WE’LL COVER

Advanced Reformer Repertoire

Explore and break down exercises including Teaser, Snake, Tree, Tendon Stretch, Thigh Stretch, Front Splits and more.

Rather than simply performing the final exercise, we’ll look at what is actually happening, what makes it challenging and how to make the movement easier to understand and teach.

Building Towards the Exercise

Advanced repertoire doesn’t need to come out of nowhere.

Learn how to break complex exercises into manageable stages and create logical progressions that prepare clients for the final movement.

Recognising Readiness

How do you know when somebody is actually ready for an advanced exercise?

We’ll explore what to look for, what might need more preparation and when progressing isn’t the right choice.

Progressions & Regressions

Learn how to move forwards, backwards and sideways within an exercise so you can give different clients an appropriate challenge without losing the intention of the movement.

Advanced Repertoire in Group Classes

Teaching an advanced exercise one-to-one is very different from introducing it to a room of people with different bodies, experience levels and abilities.

We’ll explore practical ways to teach challenging repertoire while still managing the whole room.

Develop Your Eye

Improve your ability to observe movement, recognise compensations and decide what actually matters rather than trying to correct everything you see.

Cueing Complex Movement

Advanced exercises don’t necessarily need more words.

Learn how to simplify your instructions, prioritise information and communicate complex movement without overwhelming your clients.

Tactile Cueing

Develop practical hands-on cueing skills to support positioning, direction, awareness and movement quality.

YOU’LL LEAVE WITH

  • Greater confidence teaching advanced Reformer repertoire.

  • A clearer understanding of exercises you may previously have avoided teaching.

  • Practical progressions and regressions for building clients towards more challenging movement.

  • A better understanding of how to recognise when somebody is ready to progress.

  • Clearer strategies for cueing complex exercises without overloading your clients.

  • Improved observation and tactile cueing skills.

  • Practical strategies for introducing advanced repertoire into mixed-level group classes.

  • Most importantly, I want you to leave thinking:

“That exercise isn’t as complicated as I thought. I understand it — and I know how to teach it.”

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?

This workshop is for Reformer Pilates instructors who want to feel more confident with the repertoire beyond the foundations.

It may be particularly useful if you completed a shorter Reformer training and walked away feeling like you only scratched the surface of the advanced repertoire.

Maybe you were shown the exercises but didn’t have enough time to really understand them.

Maybe your training focused heavily on performing the exercises rather than how to teach them to different people.

Or maybe you’ve been teaching for a while but still find yourself avoiding certain exercises because you don’t feel completely confident introducing them into a group class.

You don’t need to already be an “advanced” instructor.

That’s the point of the workshop.

We’ll take repertoire that can feel complicated and break it down into something you can understand, practise and confidently begin incorporating into your teaching.

Qualified and trainee Pilates instructors are welcome.

COMMON QUESTION

How is Advanced Reformer different from Teach Stronger Reformer Classes?

Teach Stronger Reformer Classes focuses on the bigger picture of teaching a strong group Reformer class — clearer cueing, effective layering, programming, sequencing and making better teaching decisions in real time.

Advanced Reformer: Teach the Repertoire with Confidence goes deeper into the advanced repertoire itself.

We’ll break down more challenging exercises, explore the progressions that lead towards them, look at how to recognise when a client is ready and practise how to teach advanced repertoire safely and confidently within a group class environment.

There will naturally be some crossover in the teaching principles I use, but the exercises, practical focus and learning outcomes are different.

You do not need to have attended Teach Stronger Reformer Classes before attending Advanced Reformer.

If you’ve already attended Teach Stronger, Advanced Reformer is designed to build on those teaching skills and take them further into more challenging repertoire.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This is a highly practical 4-hour workshop.

You won’t spend four hours sitting and listening to a lecture.

Expect to move, practise, experiment and discuss.

We’ll take the concepts directly onto the Reformer so you can experience the exercises yourself, practise teaching them and explore different ways to prepare, progress and support the person in front of you.

You’ll also receive take-home workshop notes and resources to help you continue applying what you’ve learned to your own teaching.
